| On September 19th The Clayton Area Historical Association hosted a visit from the board of directors of The Idaho Heritage Trust. In the past we have been helped by grants from this organization to rebuild the Idaho Mining and Smelter Company Store. Gaetha Pace, Executive Director of The Idaho Heritage Trust attended and their architect, Fred Walters, was quite instrumental in the completion of the project. The Clayton Historical Association is proud to be recipient of the 2008 Excellence in Historic Preservation Award. "This painstaking restoration and the efforts that this very small community has put into maintaining the building and keeping it open to the public are why Preservation Idaho is proud to honor the Clayton Area Historical Association for Excellence in Historic Preservation."
